Despite spearheading legendary goth rock group ‘The Cure,’ nabbing a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and long serving as the official artist of insufferable white dudes in liberal arts programs, it seems Robert Smith is just like us — and by just like us, I mean absolutely sick of Tickermaster’s bullshit.

Earlier this week, Smith became an unlikely voice of ticket sales reform, taking Ticketmaster to task after fans criticized the entertainment company for adding on several exorbitant fees and charges despite the band’s efforts to keep their tickets affordable.

“I AM AS SICKENED AS YOU ALL ARE BY TODAY'S TICKETMASTER 'FEES' DEBACLE,” wrote Smith. “TO BE VERY CLEAR: THE ARTIST HAS NO WAY TO LIMIT THEM,” he continued, adding that he had “BEEN ASKING HOW THEY ARE JUSTIFIED.”  “IF I GET ANYTHING COHERENT BY WAY OF AN ANSWER I WILL LET YOU ALL KNOW. X”

Hours after Smith’s post went viral on Twitter, the ‘Charlatans’ frontman Timothy Allan Burgess, took to Twitter with screenshots detailing just how quickly these additional fees compounded.

“So @thecure and @RobertSmith wanted to keep ticket prices at a reasonable level for fans on their upcoming North American tour dates. Of course, @Ticketmaster absolutely rinsed them with ridiculous extra charges,” he wrote alongside a screengrab depicting a breakdown of what he paid for four tickets.

Despite charging a fairly reasonable $20 per seat, per Burgess’s account, Ticketmaster tacked on $21.65 in service fees and facility charges per ticket — a sum costlier than the tickets themselves — on top of a blanket $5.50 order processing fee. His total? $172.10. The four tickets alone were worth $80.

“wtf even is a service fee or a facility charge or processing fee??” he lamented in the post which had since garnered upwards of 1700 likes.

It may have taken 43 years, but it seems Smith and co. have finally been proven wrong. Boys *do* cry … especially after forking over hundreds of dollars to the asshole overlords at Ticketmaster for no fucking reason.
